Co-chairs of the ABAI Insurance Code Committee hosted workshops with affiliated chapters in the US on the new codes, as well as an attendee information session during the 2014 Annual Convention. ABAI also hired an expert in medical coding and reimbursement issues to help educate members.
To evaluate the temporary Category III codes, the AMA would perform two reviews to determine their value based on how providers used them. The codes would be discontinued if they were not used or were improperly implemented.
